Robert’s Kobold Lounge: Miniatures & The Grand Vision

Bricklink studio is the best online building tool, but you can’t use it to design a set and then go to the LEGO store and get the parts from the wall. The wall has only has like 40-60 parts in single colors. You’ll have to buy the parts you need from bricklink.com or lego pick a brick online.

There is a very inexpensive set of DND Minifigs you can get on Amazon right now.  Snag some before they are gone!

What is a LEGO designer’s salary?

As of Jul 29, 2025, the average annual pay for a Lego Designer in Los Angeles is $69,971 a year.  But what should it be in Oklahoma?  That is the better question.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to the process. 🧱

## Step 1: Design Your Model in BrickLink Studio

First, you need to build your creation digitally.

  1. Download and Install: Get BrickLink Studio from the official BrickLink website. It’s available for free for both Windows and macOS.
  2. Build Your Creation: Use the intuitive interface to find parts and build your model. You can search for bricks by name, part number, or category.

## Step 2: Check Your Design Before Making a List

Before creating a shopping list, it’s a good idea to make sure your model is buildable and that the parts you used actually exist in the colors you’ve chosen.

  • Stability Check: In the top menu, go to Model > Model Check (or press Ctrl+Shift+C). Studio will highlight any connections that might be weak or physically impossible.
  • Check for Realistic Colors: Go to Model > Color Validator. This powerful tool checks every part in your model and flags any that LEGO has never officially produced in that specific color. You can then easily swap them for available colors.

## Step 3: Create Your “Wanted List”

Once your design is finalized and checked, you can export the entire parts list directly to your BrickLink account.

  1. Find the Wanted List Button: Look for the shopping cart icon with a heart ❤️ in the upper-right corner of the Studio window. Click it.
  2. Upload the Parts: A new window will pop up.
    • Choose “Create New Wanted List” and give your project a name (e.g., “Blue Space Cruiser”).
    • Click the “Add to Wanted List” button.
  3. Sync with BrickLink: Studio will process your model and upload the complete parts list to a new Wanted List in your personal BrickLink account.

## Step 4: Buy Your Bricks on BrickLink.com

Now that your list is online, you can use BrickLink’s powerful marketplace to find and buy everything you need.

  1. Log In: Go to the BrickLink.com website and log into your account.
  2. Find Your List: Hover over the heart icon in the top-right corner of the website and click on Wanted List. You’ll see the list you just uploaded from Studio.
  3. Review Your Parts: Click on the list to review it. Here, you can adjust quantities, remove parts you already own, or add notes.
  4. Buy Everything: Click the big green “Buy All” button. BrickLink’s algorithm will automatically search through thousands of stores to find the cheapest combination of sellers who have your parts in stock.
  5. Finalize Your Carts: The site will present you with one or more pre-filled shopping carts from different stores. You can review these carts, remove any if you like, and then proceed to checkout with each store individually to complete your purchase.

That’s it! Following these steps takes you from a digital idea on your computer to a ready-to-buy shopping list for your real-world LEGO creation.
