techjoynttechJOYnT Van

I have a dream of connecting Putnam City and Bethany Schools in the afterschool space while paying homage to Ray Shaik’s vision of STEM in the afterschool space alive.

The first thing I’d do is I’d purchase several vans (#RoboVansForBethanyOK) and have them run this route from 3:30 pm – 9 pm (and make the vans or busses look JUST like the OG techJoYnT used to.

Students enrolled in our afterschool program would be allowed to “ride the robo buses” to any of these places (click the map to see everything, as I am continually updating it).  Those with disabilities could also ride the busses. Maybe Musk would help us with a handful of busses.  My goal is to create a tightly-knit small community that makes it safe for kids to “play” and “learn” from 3:30 – 9pm with more freedom than has been allowed.  We have the capacity to create a truly smart city, full of students that are ready to take on all the challenges of the world (starting at home of course) and even off to Mars.

There are three places that do not exist on the bus route yet (because I need to fund them and make them a reality).

  1. Dinner.ByBethanyKids.com and Bentos.ByBethanyKids.com – Need to secure the space in the old Subway in the Westlake shopping center on 23rd and Rockwell (where we’ll have kids working with community moms and dads to make bake ahead meals that are ready to heat and serve and can be paid for with SNAP.  We will also sell bento box supplies, and have kids pack lunches for themselves and their parents here.
  2. Makerspace.ByBethanyKids.com –  The Wonderful Wandering Wagon – also in Westlake shopping center across the walkway from the old subway.  We’d get Glow Forges and partner with Traditions Leathercraft to handmake leather journals to be used in conjunction with the books and workbooks developed by Joe and Jen Robinson.
  3. techJoYnT – I need to talk to OECU to see about securing some space in the Western Oaks tower for STEM projects (maybe on one floor?).  OECU (since they are all about serving educators) may also want to be involved in the financial literacy and entrepreneurship curriculum we are developing with FamZoo, Greenlight, Copper.
